Government Drug Rehabilitation Centre in Department of Psychiatry at GMC Amritsar was established in year 2015 with idea to recreate and rehabilitate drug dependent  patients  who have undergone detoxification with an aim to motivate patients, how to live drug free life. Patients in Rehabilitation Centre are councelled by psychologist on daily basis to bring positive  change in their lives by various  counseling sessions like group counselling and individual counselling. Various recreational activities  available at Rehab Centre are:

• Skill development classes : electrical courses, plumbing
• Outdoor games like volleyball
• Painting and dance classes
• Multimedia: television, computer classes

All these activities were started with aim to bridge gap between treatment phase and social life for drug dependent patients.

Note: The treatment is free of cost and free food is provided to indoor patients.
